BACKGROUND OF CHAMBA EDUCATION TRUST FUND
The Chamba Circuit Education Trust Fund (CCETF) was established in the year 2009. The Fund is a Non-Governmental Organisation registered under the laws of Ghana and operating under the Holy Spirit Catholic Church Parish Chamba, Yendi Diocese in the Northern Region of Ghana. The main objective of the Trust Fund is to embark on educational projects which would advance the cause of education in Chamba and the surrounding towns in the Nanumba North District and the general Ghanaian Public who choose the place as a point of destination for education. The Trust’s objective is to improve the general living conditions of the people through improved education delivery by partnering the sub directorates of education at the district and regional levels.
The need for the Fund was mooted by some indigenes of Chamba who realized the sinking nature of the academic performance of the schools in the area. After a broader stakeholder consultation, an Education Trust Fund was established to undertake this noble cause. A communiqué was issued to the Nanumba North Directorate of Education on the falling nature of school performance in the area and the interventions the communities have put in place to remedy the situation. The Trust Fund seeks to collaborate with other players in the Field of Education formation in developing a plethora of sound, educated, informed and independent human resource capital in the combat of the twin evil of poverty and ignorance. This is expected to impact on the developmental drives of Chamba and Ghana as a whole.
The Trust Fund’s added objective is to mobilize financial and material resources to undertake development projects which would advance the cause of education in Chamba as well as supply of educational materials and equipment to needy schools in the area. The Fund revolves around four cardinal pillars thus;
- Staffing
- Material Support
- Motivation and
- Supervision
The Trust Fund seeks to identify, potential and equally supportive individuals and organizations both public and private to support this noble cause.
COMMITMENT OF THE PEOPLE OF CHAMBA
It is without doubt that, the people of Chamba have been very committed to salvaging the poor performance of the students in the area to improve quality human resource for Ghana. This is manifested in the fact that, the idea to mobilize themselves in an organized manner to work out modalities to improve students’ performance was borne by the indigenes of Chamba in 2009. Several consultations and sub-sectional meetings and sensitization programs have been organized by the leadership of the Trust fund to make everybody fully aware of the situation in Chamba and what needs to be done.
